PROJECT 2
Contextual Fit
Contextual Fit-
The goal is to create an addition to the Smith House, a residence designed in 1965 by Richard Meier. This project requires a close analysis of the home’s original design, focusing on its structure, style, and overall architectural approach in order to ensure the new addition blends seamlessly with what already exists. In addition, the design must respond to the present-day needs of the occupants, incorporating new ideas or features in a way that complements—rather than disrupts—the character of the original house.

Narrative-
The Smith family recently moved to Long Island in search of a better and more active lifestyle. As they began exploring new activities together, they discovered a shared passion for playing tennis. When they are on the court they experience a sense of freedom, focus, and a strong connection with the open environment. Inspired by these feelings, the design of their home aims to recreate that same atmosphere.
